Denver, Colorado-based RuMe was launched on Earth Day 2008 to meet the growing need of environmentally conscious consumers who don’t want to sacrifice style and functionality.
Surrounded by the majestic Rocky Mountains and influenced by the environmentally-sensitive Colorado climate, RuMe emerged out of the growing consumer desire for sensible, affordable products that use less, by ReUsing more.
The RuMe team merges a diverse background in international manufacturing, graphic design, advertising, and product branding, to bring global-friendly products, manufactured under strict fair trade practices that are as stylish as they are useful.
RuMe’s premier product, the reusable RuMe Bag, is designed and packaged following a no-waste philosophy and all RuMe products are manufactured in South Korea under strict Fair Trade policies and standards including, but not limited to:
- A fair, living wage for all factory employees (2007 per capita GDP of South Korea is estimated at USD $24,600 per year by the CIA Fact Book).
- Employees have ample meal breaks, are not obligated to work overtime and employees may unionize.
- The factory is modern, clean, well lit and has emergency protocols in place.
RuMe’s manufacturing partner in South Korea belongs to the Fair Trade Commission.
